Well, it seems my last post was a little prophetic. It was not an intention I had set by any means (though perhaps it functioned as if it were one). Being away and then trying to jump back into the swing of things during the last week of "summer vacation" was a bit too much of a disruption to the normal. It seems all my routines have required conscious consideration once again.
I can remember being a child at this time of the year. Filled with excitement and dread...probably an equal mix of both...as back to school planning was underway. It was not an easy transition and took time and effort to get back into the swing of things so I was actually getting to school on time and sorting out my belongings and homework after school and then getting to bed on time. Lather, rinse, repeat every weekday (with a few exceptions) for the next 10 months.
School starts this week for most of the children I know. If your child is heading back this week, know this...they're not going to get everything right; some balls will be dropped; but it will all be okay in the end. So...breathe. Decide it's okay to figure it out in the next few weeks. And then take the time to figure things out.
Enjoy back to school!
